How to Join

If you are interested in joining the Carsharing Co-operative of Edmonton, read the Membership Manual for details about how the Co-op works. The most current version of our price list is also available. Please see the FAQ or contact us if you have any other questions about how the CCE works.

An application form, along with a $25 insurance application fee and a copy of your 5 year driver’s abstract must be submitted. To obtain the driver’s abstract, visit the closest Vehicle Registry to you. You will be contacted once our new insurance premium is confirmed. If you decide to join the Car Co-operative, a $55 non-refundable start-up fee and refundable Co-op shares at $100 each (full membership is 4 shares, or $400) are required. The shares are refunded to members who decide to leave the Co-op.

Once you have been accepted as a member and you have signed a contract, you will be given a key or combination to access the security lock up where the car’s ignition key is stored, and a password for CCE’s online booking calendar. When you want to use the car, go online and book the car for the time period you want to use it for.

When you use the car, you will need to fill in a Trip Log. Record the odometer reading at departure and return, keep track of any expenses (such as a gas purchases), and do a quick, but thorough, inspection of the car both before you leave and when you return. This is to ensure that you and the co-op know what kind of condition the car was in BEFORE it is used by you.

At the end of the month, an invoice will be emailed to you for your car use.
